Shooting into the light

A very impromptu shoot this evening, mainly tagging onto someone else’s last minute shoot.

Generally out of my comfort zone, shooting mainly into the light and not using any flash or even a reflector! This is very unusual for me.

Most of the work was on film, so just a few here from a dozen or so digi shots I took.

Submitted some work and a proposal for some funding on a travel project last week. Was feeling ‘clever’ so thought I’d shoot it all on film – a mix of standard 35mm and 645 medium format stuff.

Well- this is the final shot that I went for after a late minute change of plan. The theme was ‘Downturn’ so the news of the double-dip was a front page I had to use!

Retro – Shooting on film

Been many many years since I’ve shot on film, but had the bug yesterday while out wondering with a friend.

Shooting on Fuji Neopan 1600 (mainly as this was what I had in the fridge, but also) because I really like a bit of grain and the contrast from this film.

Then in processing my first film in a darkroom today! I still smell a bit of developer, but was good fun. These are just scanned straight in – dust/scratches and all

Have been trying a ‘new start’ for a little while, but failing! I think it was because I was still trying to do the bits I was good at, and introduce the bits I wanted to do new (and reverting to old habits).

Last week I wend out in Jesmond Dean with Sophie and after a little while of not being happy with what I was producing started shooting while we were chatting about something completely different (and a lot of credit to Sophie here, able do do “chat-chat-chat *POSE* chat-chat-chat”).

I’m pretty happy with the shot:

Brown Ale

Another catch up post! Two images that I submitted for my degree project last week.

The brief was for two promo images for Newcastle Brown Ale, one for the local market and one for an export market. Was a quick turn around and these were shot the day before the deadline (making me feel like a proper student!) so not leaving much time to process and print.

Was happy with them though
